So after I’d finished the negative space sketch, I wanted to explore it more. I wanted to forget about all of the complexities of trying to analyse the film in great detail. There was just one element to the story which I wanted to hold onto: that is that in a world in which everybody is so confused, the are both clear and complete together.
So after quickly drawing the basic lines of the negative space image, I created erratic and intense lines using a terrible black pen to portray the chaos on the outside. Then I used the colours as one continuous circular squiggle to show the calm, yet playful interior which they share amongst the terrifying exterior.
